On the way to Morocco - UK to Spain, Ceuta

We wanted to spend as much time as possible in Morocco, so we decided to pass quickly through the parts of Europe that are already familiar to us.

We took the overnight ferry from Plymouth to Santander in Spain, which saved us from driving the entire length of France. It meant we arrived fresh and relaxed for the next leg of the journey - driving roughly 1,000 km across Spain in a single day.

At around 4 a.m. we arrived at a quiet parking spot in the hills about 5 km from Algeciras. After booking tickets for the morning crossing to Africa, we went to sleep for a few hours.

The morning started with tea and coffee before heading to the port to board the ferry to Ceuta. Although Ceuta is in Africa, it is still Spanish territory, which makes the crossing a little easier since you are technically still in Spain.

As soon as we drove off the ferry onto African soil, we couldn’t wait any longer and headed straight for the border to cross into Morocco.

We’ll share all the details about this part of the journey soon on our blog.
