Morocco - Fes, Medina, Chouara tannery, Volubilis
Written By Lucas & Miri - Beyond the Horizon
Driving into Fes was a challenge with the crowded streets and endless traffic, but getting into the medina was worth it - narrow alleys, bustling souks, and the smell of spices everywhere. We visited the Chouara tannery, watching leather being dyed in huge stone vats, a glimpse into centuries of tradition. Later, we escaped the city chaos and found a quiet spot in the nearby hills to wild camp under the stars.
The next morning, we drove to Volubilis and wandered among the ruins, imagining life here centuries ago. After lunch at nice local place, we continued into the hills to find another remote wild camp, enjoying the silence and open space before the next day’s journey.
